As a, musician and artist I love sad music. Over the years sad songs have been dear friends, consoling me, helping me less alone-as you say in your piece. After reading your article I pulled up Clapton's 1974 blues piece, Give Me Strength- 2:53 minutes of a guy deep in pain. Makes me shiver. One verse repeated twice.

Dear Lord, give me strength to carry on.
