Fascinating. Disappointing too. Why am I mildly surprised? Hmm. Perhaps I’m terribly naive. Or perhaps I thought “top” writers would have moved on from working the system to something more elegant by now.

But, perhaps this speaks to our collective thirst for the paycheck, the recognition and indefatigable need to have our egos stroked by how many and how much we receive in return for creating our art.
