hahah! Adam. You're a funny guy! I was taught in the beginning to repeat silently "So" on the in breath and "hum" on the out breath. Some people like to do this. I don't do that any more. Kind of like training wheels on a bike. I don't need the wheels anymore, but I did in the beginning. For open eye meditation, I just feel and follow my breathing, without over controlling it. I don't bother about longer exhale vs inhale etc. No need to over egg the pudding!! Here is a good guided breath meditation to help you out Adam.
