I I too have practiced the techniques I learned from one of Prem Rawat’s top followers back in 1972. He asked me to become a meditation instructor which I did. Then I became the President of Elan Vital, the non profit back in the 1980’s that sponsored his work. I gained a great deal from the practice of self-knowledge. Then, in 2000 I learned that Prem Rawat, in his private life, was not what we heard or saw on stage. He had a long time mistress, asked his then right hand man, Michael Dettmers to arrange sexual liaisons with female followers while he was married. He was a heavy drinker for many years and was known for enjoying lewd jokes, smoking, humiliating close followers in public, and asking his children to cover up the fact he ate meat while encouraging his ashram followers to be vegetarian. And there’s way more. So, I cut my ties with Prem Rawat. Now, Mitch, has the option to delete this comment, so who knows if anyone will read it. But suffice it to say, the techniques, ancient as they are and not invented by Prem, work beautifully if one applies oneself. Prem Rawat the man? A deeply flawed man pretending to be something special.
