So, you are saying, you are conducting yourself with integrity, but what you are being asked to do or are a part of is causing you mental anguish? If I have that right then here are a few thoughts. I’m curious what you did or are doing. If you aren’t ready to bail ship then take care of your health, all of it. Mental, emotional, and physical. Work on plan B. Be clear on your boundaries. How much is too much? I’m coaching a CEO right now who is in this exact place. He’s choosing to stay in the fire, which is severely burning him because he’s invested a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and his own money in the operation and he’s not willing to leave, yet. They’re dangling a big payout in the future, with a lot of ifs tied to it. It’s a nasty situation. I can’t tell him what to do. He has to choose. Stay and possibly destroy your health for a possible, not probable payday. Or, leave and start anew. He’s 60 years old. He could easily get another job because he’s brilliant and extremely talented. What’s one thing they never tell you when you sit down at a restaurant and look at the menu? You can always get up, and walk right out.
